El Programa de autocontrol de la diabetes es un programa educativo para participantes para personas con diabetes. El programa fue desarrollado por la Universidad de Stanford y se ofrece en comunidades de los Estados Unidos y varios otros países. También pueden asistir familiares, cuidadores o amigos. Los temas del taller incluyen: Técnicas para tratar los síntomas de diabetes, fatiga, dolor, hiper/hipoglucemia, estrés y problemas emocionales como depresión, ira, miedo y frustración. Ejercicio adecuado para mantener y mejorar la fuerza y la resistencia. Alimentación saludable Uso apropiado de medicamentos; y Trabajar más eficazmente con los proveedores de atención médica. Los participantes elaboran planes de acción semanales, comparten experiencias y se ayudan mutuamente a resolver los problemas que encuentran al crear y llevar a cabo su programa de autocontrol y controlar su diabetes.
